FAQs

ORDERING & PRE-ORDERS

What does pre-order mean?

Your payment holds a unit from our next shipment. Nothing else is different - same warranty, same support, same gear.

Every product page shows its current status under the price, including which shipment yours comes from. Tents and accessories run on separate shipments, so check the product you're actually buying.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes. If you change your mind before your order ships, tell us and we'll refund you in full.

Once it's shipped, our Refund Policy applies.

Do you take a deposit instead of full payment?

Yes. Pre-orders are 50% up front, with the balance due before your order ships. The deposit secures your unit from the batch - we'll send a payment link for the rest once your shipment lands.

Afterpay is also available if you'd rather split it into four payments.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

How much does shipping cost?

Calculated at checkout from your gear and your address. Multiple items ship as one freight charge  - you're never charged per item.

Current rates by region are in our Shipping Policy.

When will I get my order?

Check the order status under the price - it shows whether your gear is in stock or on pre-order, and which shipment yours is on.

In stock: dispatched within 1–2 business days, then 1–3 days Auckland, 2-4 days North Island, 3–7 days South Island, 4–8 days rural South Island.

Those timeframes start once your order is in our warehouse. On pre-order, add the lead time shown on the product page.

Do you deliver rural?

Yes, anywhere in New Zealand. Remote South Island runs take longer and cost more - the rate shows at checkout once you enter your address.

Can I collect instead of having it delivered?

If you're in Auckland and buying a rooftop tent or awning, yes - collect from our depot and pay nothing for freight.

Bring roof racks or a trailer. The box won't fit inside most vehicles.

Do you ship to Australia?

Yes!

Freight is calculated at checkout in AUD. Your order goes to the closest freight
depot to you, and we email you when it's ready to collect.

Import duties, GST and customs clearance are covered by us - the price at
checkout is the price you pay.

We don't currently ship to WA, the Northern Territory or Tasmania. Get in touch
if that's you.

FITMENT

Will a Stoke tent fit my vehicle?

Three numbers decide it. Your real limit is the lowest of the three.

1. Dynamic roof load - your vehicle's limit while driving. This is the one that matters most, and it's usually the smallest number. It has to cover the tent plus your racks.

2. Static roof load - your vehicle's limit while parked. This is what carries you and your gear once the tent is open, and it's usually far higher than the dynamic rating. It's the reason rooftop tents work at all.

3. Your roof racks or crossbars - these have their own rating, often lower than the vehicle's. People forget this one.

Check your owner's manual for the first two figures and your rack manufacturer for the third. Not sure? Get in touch with your make, model and year and we'll go through it with you.

Are roof racks included?

No. Universal mounting hardware comes with every tent, but racks and crossbars are yours to supply.

We're adding racks and roof platforms to the range soon. In the meantime, if you're not sure your setup will take it - or you're after a recommendation - get in touch before you buy.

Can I run an awning and a tent together?

Yes - our awnings mount alongside any Stoke tent.

Just make sure your roof load rating covers both together, not each on its own. That's the mistake people make.

Can I take the tent off easily?

With the standard hardware, it's a two-person lift and a few bolts.

If you want it off in minutes without tools, add our Quick Release Tent Bracket - over-centre latches, self-aligning, cable lock included.

THE GEAR

How much do the tents weigh?

  • STEALTH - 43 kg. NZ's lightest hard-shell, which is the whole point of it.

  • STEALTH SOLAR -  —43 kg, with a 180W panel built into the shell.

  • APEX  - 72 kg, bigger inside, sleeps up to three.

How long does setup take?

About 45 seconds. Unclip, and the gas struts do the rest.

Are they four-season?

Yes. PU5000 waterproofing, UV 50+ fabric, sealed seams, storm flaps and full-perimeter seals.

They're tested in NZ weather because that's where we camp.

What's included with a tent?

  • 5 cm memory foam mattress

  • Anti-condensation mat

  • 12V power and USB panel

  • LED tri-colour lighting

  • Universal mounting hardware

  • Telescopic ladder

Can I mount gear on top of the tent?

Yes, with our crossbars fitted — they carry up to 50 kg. Sold separately.

What's the tent made from?

Aluminium honeycomb hard shell, ripstop and poly-cotton fabrics, over 50% recycled materials.

WARRANTY & RETURNS

What warranty do I get?

12 months on material and workmanship faults affecting normal use. If something's a manufacturing fault, we sort it with a replacement or refund.

Full detail - what's covered, what isn't - is in the Stoke Promise.

How do I make a claim?

Through our Warranty Form. Send photos and your order number and we'll come back to you with the next step.

What if it arrives damaged?

Check it when it lands and photograph anything that isn't right, packaging included. Tell us within 48 hours through the Warranty Form — after that our freight partners can refuse the claim.

Can I return something I've changed my mind about?

Yes, within 30 days, unused and in its original packaging. Return shipping is on you, and refunds cover the product price rather than the original freight.

Details are in our Refund Policy.

Who do I talk to?

Us. Two of us, both in NZ, both using this gear ourselves.

info@stokesupply.com — we answer every email.
